Neurological impulses are transmitted to the brain when the therapist makesthe moves. These impulses create surges of energy which increase blood and lymph flow and relieve muscle tension.
Several theories have been published about connections between the technique and the response resulting from communication between the brain and nervous system and also the effect on the fascia – the connective tissue that supports and surrounds muscle and organs. Research continues around these theories and volunteer groups are set up and monitored to further our knowledge of using Bowen for specific ailments.
